The Taliban arrived one night, demanding Bibi be handed over to face justice. After a Taliban commander pronounced his verdict, Bibi's brother-in-law held her down and her husband sliced off her ears and then cut off her nose. Bibi was abandoned, but later rescued by aid workers and the U.S. military. After time in a women's refuge in Kabul, she was taken to America, where she received counseling and reconstructive surgery. Bibi Aisha now lives in the United States. Every time I read stories about those evil men it makes my blood boil, they will have some explaining to do when they meet their maker. Such a beautiful girl
Yes it's horrable isn't it?! The World Press Photo Exposition is supported by the Dutch Embassy so I wanted to post it at some places. Than I saw this picture at my invitation for the opening and I was searching for this picture to add it at internet and than I did find the story behind it...I'm still shocked! I can't believe that it's still hapening things likes this in the world and a lot of other things and all because politics and money! For me every president and politician in the whole world has blood at his / her hands for allowing this kind of things and all kind of other things like dictators who can sit in their chair for such a long time like more than 20 years and even 40 years!
This cannot be called human behaviour. How can they justify what they have done to this poor girl. Sick, sick, sick!!!
I dont know how we will ever do any good in Afghanistan there are way to many taliban, kill one 10 will take his place..The things they do to their own people are unthinkable and in human!!
not hard yet...im so proud of him and all our boys in the forces..I just wish them giving their lives could make a difference to that country and the world..but it wont!!
They chose a tough career that's for sure. I feel the same way, it's little men with too much power that rule this world. Bloody wrong mate!
OMG, and we are living in 2012, poor woman, barbaric. We should be thankful for the freedoms we have here.
This answers any questions about why we are there! Nothing to do with freeing the people of atrocities.
But the terrible fact is the Taliban were "enablers" the offenders were BIL and husband?, just the same as in Pakistan with oil in face tricks etc. Worse than anything in countries such as Somalia it is the women that "cut" other women - EDUCATION is the only answer. BTW I have a piece of Lapis Lazuli and Turquoise from a long ago visit to Afghanistan. Beautiful.....
Terrible.... I did read a story last year about a family in Afghanistan who had acid thrown over them because they refused to let their daughter marry the man who done it....
Ohhh terrible DragonZest! I've been last Saturday to the opening from this exposition and I did some research before so looked at the photo's at their websites and if you click at the photo, you can click again at view and you read the story behind the photo. And when I did that it was sometimes difficult because some of the stories...well it's hard... But allthough I did it, when I did see some pictures in real it was hard for me again sometimes. For the members who wants to know more about the pictures and the stories: http://www.worldpressphoto.org/winners/2011 Click at the photo and again click at view and than you can read what it's about.
